How To Add A Picture To Your Header

One of the questions I get asked the most is how to customize a Shabby Blogs header by adding a photo to it. It's a tricky question because everyone uses different programs on their computers...and some people don't use any photo-editing software at all. So, for those of you who are already pros, rock on. For the rest of you, check out the video tutorial I just added to our FAQ page and you'll be sporting a super swanky custom header in no time! I can't wait to see it!

*We're working on a site redesign that will include several video tutorials. If there is something in particular you would love a little help with, please let me know!

Hope you had an awesome Valentine's Day! I know I did! :)

  1. Megan, thank you, that was a great tutorial!! Very easy to understand. If you get a chance, can you please let me know if you have any idea how some people have multiple pictures in their headers? After watching the video I have a hunch the process is similar. Thanks much, Erin

  7. Awesome vid, Megan! I look forward to your other tutorials. Especially, one showing how to get a super cool header that links to other static pages like yours( hint, hint*).

    Fotoflexer is wonderful! My only qualm is that you are limited to the font choices that are already on fotoflexer < booooo> The Pixlr Editor is a lot better as far as font choices goes but I have my qualms about Pixlr as well {I know... I'm so hard to please}! To please picky 'ole me, I had to get a phd just to use a fancy shmancy editor {gimp pleases ALL of my needs}

    Beginners should check out:
Photoscape.org (its awesome! but you have to download)
    Pixlr.com
Fotoflexer.com ( if you don't mind the fonts on there)
    Lunapic

    For the more adventurous:
    Paint.net (is super cool)

For those needing a serious editor that has close to all of the benefits of photoshop:
Gimp.org ( warning, it is quite difficult to use but if you are up for the challenge, by all means...)

    Hope this Helps!!!!!

  8. Hi Megan,

Thanks for the video tutorials. Should be good. I love using things from your website, and I would really love a tutorial that shows how to make a link that leads to a different part on your blog.
Such as: A link (or button) on the sidebar titled 'book reviews' that you can click and it will take you to a new page with all book reviews.
    Thanks,
    J. Haase

  12. Awesome video! Very helpful. Could you do another that explains things like changing margin width? (Is it even possible without a fluid-width template?) That has been really frustrating me. :P Aaand, like Nickie said, I'd love to learn how to link to static pages from a homepage, like you do! :D

  14. HI Shabby Ladies! Thanks so much for the tutorial, and I think I will sign-up for and use that website for editing pictures, although I do have an editing program that I could probably use on my puter, the one on the web looks a lot easier.

But, I do have another question. When you have the time. I wanted to use the cute little "Twitter follow me" button, but I can't figure out how to actually link it with my twitter account?? Maybe I'm just being dense, but I am asking anyway.

My very first "Boss" told me that "No question is dumb unless it is NOT asked." Soooo.........I'm asking! ((rolling my eyes))

  18. Hi! I absolutely love your designs! Have them all over my blog. I tried to contact you via email but there was an error about something not being installed right.

Anywho, may I suggest a tutorial on turning your blog into a 3 columns. I already use one that supports 3 columns but have no idea how to change it. Have found lots of instructions to do it in the blogger generic templates. Do I switch to one of those, make it 3 column and then reinstall my cute shappy background?

If anyone else knows I'd appreciate your help. I'm new to this bloggy stuff.

    Thanks in advance! :)
